Saramago Trilogy

Brief: Design a trilogy collection of book jackets for Portuguese writer, José Saramago.

The book sleeves evoke a sense of vertigo in Saramago’s writing, as well as mystery and intrigue. Each book employs a unique visual for each major plot point of the story. I also incorporated vertigo into the design by repeating the book title in a circular pattern. This ensures that the reader can read the title regardless of the orientation of the book. The spine is then wrapped around the book instead of folded, adding depth and the feeling of being immersed in the cover.

For this project, I also selected a well-known imprint and incorporated it into the book cover design. I achieved this by using the distinctive colour of Penguin Random House’s logo to highlight the book title amidst the various shades of blue.
